Curiosity dies, apathy arises

I wrote the following poem as a creative assignment for my Honors class. It's a response to Viktor E. Frankl's Man's Search for Meaning. I really enjoyed it so I thought i'd share with you.

Curiosity dies, apathy arises
Love, the salvation of man. Love
Unbeknownst of the beloved
Yet infinite glory surpasses
The everlasting bond goes on.
Distance cannot sever loves connection.
What breaks man’s outside
Gives no reason to break what’s inside.
Free in our bodies
Spirit and mind
The power to overcome lay within.
Values hold the key of all worth
For loss of the key, looses the self’s respect
The oneness a person holds
The freedom inside
The values upheld.
The will for values and life coincide
Thriving or perishing, as one.
To mean we need suffering, fate, death;
All is taken for granted without.
Suffering is a test, for meaning
To evolve meaning
To be great
The chance emerges and must be taken.
Expectation of the world
The root of despair.
We cannot ask of it
It asks of us.
To be full
We must fulfill
Each is one
A unique self
Differ in meaning, purpose, existence,
Our responsibility prevails
Love and life overpower
The meaning is clear
We exist
We choose paths
We grow, prosper
Fail, falter
We remain content
Or triumph all.
